I grew up in an atheistic and intellectual family. My father has three masters degrees in math, physics and electrical engineering. My mother was a college graduate. My brother has his doctorate in computer science and founded a computer corporation.

I myself received a masters degree in public health, was an atheist and believed in the Darwinian theory of evolution. After graduation I lived very much in a worldly way with a very active social life. I traveled and SCUBA dived all over the world and I did a lot of things of which I am not proud, like breaking all of the Ten Commandments listed in the bible.

During the first half of 1988, my best friend at the time was healed of Lupus at a healing service in Orange County. I saw a change in her over that time and was curious. She invited me to a seminar in August, but I didn’t really want to go. I threw up all sorts of obstacles to prevent myself from going but God had a different idea.

Well, I arrived and met Dr. Joanne Petronella, the Director of Christ In You The Hope Of Glory International Ministry, who was doing the teaching.

We entered into praise and worship in a classroom at Rosary High School in Brea. Everyone was standing and raising their hands. I just stood with my arms straight down at my side. Dr. Petronella moved out and prayed for certain people. Some of these people fell down on the floor! I kept looking around to see what was happening. She came and prayed over me but I felt nothing.

There was a teaching session, a lunch break and then an afternoon session began. The music started again, everybody stood and raised their hands. After a while, Dr. Petronella came over and prayed for me.

I just sat down and started crying. I did not know how broken and hurting I was on the inside. I had thought I had it all together.

I kept crying and then said, “Ok, Jesus, if you are really real, prove it to me and then come into my heart and take charge of my life.” Well, I saw myself rising out of this black tunnel toward a light and into the arms of Jesus. He spoke to me and said, “Robin, I care for you.” (He knew I couldn’t handle the word love.) So I cried harder and just wept and wept and soon a feeling of peace came over me.

I sat in a stupor the rest of the day and at the end, I felt drawn to go up to where Dr. Petronella was praying for someone. I was standing about six (6) feet away when all of a sudden I felt something like electricity flowing over me and my arms raised of their own accord.

Dr. Petronella kept looking over at me as if to see what was going on. Soon, she prayed for me and I went down on the floor!

I had an instant deliverance. I had received a healing in the female area. I also got delivered from over-the-counter drugs. I had been addicted (i.e., having a medicine to sleep and then another to wake up) with a multiplicity of minor aches and pains that I do not have today. The Lord cleaned up my mouth. I used to have a foul mouth and used a lot of 4-letter words. Now, I have only sworn a few times (maybe once a year) since then.

I also got the baptism of the Holy Spirit at that time although I did not know it. Joanne prophesied over me and it came true within two years.

To show my ignorance, I did not even know I was “born again” for about six months (let alone baptized in the Holy Spirit). All I knew was that I had an incredible experience with Jesus.

I began getting grounded in the Word through Dr. Petronella’s ministry. I began to look for a home church and found one, Christ Church in Los Angeles with Pastor John Hinkle.

The Lord continued to work with me and I am so glad He did. Because seven years later He released me into my current ministry “In His Love International Ministry” and three years later I received a Doctorate Degree in Ministry and became an ordained minister.
